On April 5, 2025 QCWA Arizona (Chapter 16) had a luncheon after the RST hamfest at the Hungry Fox restaurant in Tucson. Attendance was great and the food was as good as always.
Our dear friends Randy KD7KEQ and Marcia KF7DYW Burcham suggested this restaurant since it had great food and a meeting room. Unfortunately we lost Randy last month. Marcia was nice enough to take care of the reservations and joined us for lunch. Although Randy did not make it to 25 years to become a member of QCWA, he enjoyed attending and helping out. Randy's memorial service will be May 24th at Catalina Foothills Church in Tucson at 2pm.
Carl, KB7AZ (QCWA Chapter 16, Sec./Treas.), gave a update on the chapter and the finances. There was an interesting discussion about Disneyland's train station Morse code audio and further discussion on some fabulous tube radios from years past.
Harold Hallikainen W6IWI gave a show and tell with his RTTY decoder he designed and built. Harold said he will be speaking at the RST Meeting on April 8, 2025 and discussing this design with his “Heavy Metal” RTTY presentation.
Awards were given out by Tom Fagan K7DF (chapter 16 president) to Henry Knoepfle KB7NIE (30 years), Jim Skinner K6BPT (50 years), and Carl Foster KB7AZ (55 years). Henry was not in attendance, I'll have to get his award to him. See attached pictures by Elizabeth Fagan KE7ZPI.
